I was playing with Google AdSense for a project at work, so of course I set it up on Valence Band first (because this is my sandbox). What we can’t figure out is how AdSense decides what kind of Ad to place on a particular site. Does it rely on the META data? Content obtained via the Google crawler? It’s all a big mystery and fun to watch. I’m not expecting anyone to actually click on the AdSense ads; I’m just finding it interesting that Google believes people who visit Valence Band are looking for stock market advice (!) and free music downloads.

Dead Head Conference Room
This is the most disturbing meeting room. Ever. Now that I no longer work for the organization that created this meeting room, I feel compelled to share this photo.

BioTrack3
So we’ve nearly completed the first cut of our new pharma licensing/tracking system, BioTrack3. BioTechs love this thing because they can track their licensing deals and assets.
I never thought of myself as a “UI Guy”, but most of the “look” is because of me. This is all .Net C# code (a big “sorry” goes out to my Mac and Linux friends). Anyhoo, it looks great and it’s fast, too. I’ve made it somewhat skinnable in that some of the panels can be semi-transparent with background images. Hey, it’s a serious business application, so the Easter Eggs have been kept to a minimum.
Now, the hard part: we have to find some more people who want to buy it before we go out of business.
